In Hamburg, you have no choice – in a good way!
If you have acquired one or more plots in the development areas of HafenCity, Billebogen or Grasbrook, or at Science City in Hamburg’s Bahrenfeld district, your purchase contract will oblige you to obtain a building certificate.
It’s always been this way in HafenCity – or at least since 2010. The former Umweltzeichen HafenCity was Germany’s first building certificate, setting forward-looking standards for a sustainable real estate sector – and not just in the Hanseatic City on the Elbe.
In June 2023, the DGNB special award Ecolabel replaced the reputable HCH environmental seal but upheld the key aspects in the process. The advantages of significant impact and a rise in the market value of your land amount to more than just cleverly coordinated measures on the part of the DGNB in the environmental, economic and social areas – functional, technical and procedural aspects are also reviewed and thus subject to high standards.
